Advanced fields

Add CMS field types Harmony’s native picker does not offer — Media Gallery, Video, Address, Color, Reference, Tags, and more — from the CMS for Harmony collections dashboard.

Harmony’s built-in CMS lets you add a focused set of field types. CMS for Harmony unlocks the fuller Wix CMS field catalog from the Add field flow on the collections dashboard — including types you cannot pick in Harmony’s native field picker.

What Harmony supports natively

In Harmony today, the native Choose Field Type picker includes:

CategoryField types
BasicsText, Rich text, URL, Email, Number, Boolean
MediaImage
TimeDate, Date and time, Time

That set is enough for simple lists. It leaves out galleries, files, references, addresses, colors, and other shapes many catalogs and directories need.

What you can add with CMS for Harmony

From the CMS for Harmony collections dashboard, open a collection and choose Add field. You can create every type above plus field types that are not in Harmony’s native picker, including:

Field typeTypical use
Rich contentLong copy with media embeds
ColorHEX values shown as swatches on displays and filters
TagsLists of tags for categories or labels
Reference / Multi-referenceLink one or many items in another collection
Media galleryMultiple images or videos on one item
Video / Audio / DocumentSingle file uploads (play or download on the site)
AddressPhysical address — text and/or map on displays
LanguageLanguage codes
Object / ArrayStructured JSON values for advanced data

After you add a field, map it on Repeater, Table, Dynamic Page, Media Gallery, Slideshow, Calendar, or Form. Display options (maps, swatches, video playback, reference labels) live under Field formatting.

Add a field

  1. Open the CMS for Harmony dashboard → Collections.
  2. On a native collection row, click Add field.
  3. Choose a field type — including types missing from Harmony’s native picker.
  4. Enter a Field name. The Field key fills in automatically (edit it if you need a custom ID).
  5. For Reference or Multi-reference, pick the related collection. For Array, pick the item type.
  6. Click Create field.

You can also create fields while setting up Dynamic pages or Catalog payments (+ Create new field…), or accept suggested fields from AI setup.

Why it matters

  • Richer collections on Harmony — model galleries, files, references, and addresses without leaving Harmony for Studio/Classic CMS workflows.
  • Widgets that match the data — Media Gallery, Address maps, Color swatches, video playback, and reference filters need those field types on the collection.
  • Forms that capture more — visitors can upload video, images, and media galleries into fields you added here.
